Discover Espelette during your holidays on the Atlantic coast

Espelette, the pepper capital

Le Château des Barons d’Ezpeleta

The Château des Barons d’Ezpeleta lies just beside the village's main pedestrianised area. See inside this pretty building; you'll find it delightful!

L’Atelier du Piment

The Atelier du Piment, which produces and processes Espelette pepper, lies at the entrance to the village. You'll find out about Espelette pepper and the know-how involved via a fun trail in the pepper field. Information panels mean you'll be able to find the answers to the questionnaire given to you when you get here. From seed to powder, come and share the passion of its producers! Your tour will be rounded off with a generous and spicy tasting!

The Pepper Festival

Every year during the last weekend of October, come and experience the Pepper Festival. Tastings and direct sales are available too. You'll also be able to see the dance shows, traditional music concerts and the force basque strength and endurance trials!

Route: Labenne – Espelette 37 mins – 37 km via the A63 D932

The village of Espelette is a perfect representation of the Basque village. Above all, it has achieved its worldwide fame due to growing a spice that comes from the other side of the Atlantic: Espelette pepper. But the Espelette is also a village where life is lived well, with craft shops and other local producers. Come and enjoy a stroll around the village centre.
